About the Guild

The “Beards for Bros” fundraising campaign, led by the O’Dea Fighting Irish Fighting Cancer Junior Guild, is inspired by past and current members of the O’Dea community who have been affected by cancer. In July 2012, O’Dea student Josh Dickerson lost his battle after a valiant fight against cancer. Throughout his journey, the O’Dea community came together to offer support for him and his family. Proceeds from “Beards for Bros” will benefit the Seattle Children’s Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program, where Josh and others in our O’Dea community have been treated for cancer.

In the month of March, students, fathers, alumni and others in the O’Dea community will be able to purchase merchandise as a donation or directly donate to this cause. In the spirit of fun, students will be able to grow a beard for the month of March if they donate $100. Since the O'Dea Fighting Irish Fighting Cancer Junior Guild joined Seattle Children's Guild Association in 2016 they have raised close to $30,000 for the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program.
