About Sports Star

For the past 84 years, Sports Star of the Year has celebrated the achievements of our sports legends both on and off the field. Beginning in 2019, the Seattle Sports Commission, in conjunction with the event, is celebrating our sports stars' philanthropic service by championing fundraising efforts through partnership with Seattle Children's and the Team Ewan Guild.

As a Seattle Champion, we invite the community to engage in a month-long campaign to support the High-Risk Leukemia program at Seattle Children's. Donations can be made on this site and in person at the 84th Annual MTRWestern Sports Star of the Year on February 7 at Sheraton Grand Seattle.

About the Guild & Seattle Children's Hospital's High-Risk Leukemia Program

Ewan Lill was born in Chicago on September 22, 2009 and died in his parents’ arms of acute lymphoblastic leukemia on May 7, 2018 at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The family has established the Team Ewan Guild in his memory. The aim is to help fund the High-Risk Leukemia program, which encompasses care for all patients, including those receiving CAR T-cell therapy, and provides them with a multidisciplinary approach to their care. The program also allows Seattle Children's to incorporate next-generation diagnostics for research, therapy, and monitoring.
